In a spectacular showcase of youthful rugby talent, the under 12s rugby teams from Kingsbridge RFC and Devonport Services clashed under the bright sunshine at The Creek today. With the sun gracing the field, both teams brought their A-game, making for an exhilarating and action-packed contest.

The match got underway with both sides displaying commendable enthusiasm and sportsmanship. The young athletes on both teams exhibited impressive skills, with crisp passes, nimble footwork, and solid tackles keeping the spectators on the edge of their seats.

Kingsbridge RFC seized the early advantage, executing a series of precise passes and fantastic offloads, which led to the first try of the match. Their slick handling and teamwork demonstrated a level of maturity well beyond their years, setting the tone for the game. Granting the away side a 5-0 lead.

Devonport Services fought valiantly to regain control, displaying resilience and determination. However they were unfortunate to take some hard knocks to some of their key players and just could not gain a foothold when they needed it the most.

As the match continued, Kingsbridge RFC showcased their team work, unleashing a barrage of attacking plays that tested the Devonport Services defence.

The sun-bathed spectators were treated to a display of skill and determination as Kingsbridge RFC scored another try, extending their lead to 10-0. Devonport Services continued to battle tirelessly, but they faced stiff resistance from Kingsbridge RFC's defence along with passes not quite going to hand when they needed it the most. The away side's backline showed their proficiency with ball in hand, scoring one more try before the halftime whistle. The first half concluded with a score of 15-0 in favour of Kingsbridge RFC.

In the second half, Kingsbridge RFC maintained their momentum, applying relentless pressure on their opponents. Their scrum-half showcased impressive speed and vision, creating opportunities for the backs to run and score. Devonport Services remained resilient in their defensive efforts but struggled to break free from the relentless assault.

Devonport did manage to upset the visitors on more than one occasion with some classy runs coming from some determined young men. Although the score line was against them, they never dropped their heads and kept battling until the final whistle. A fine example of the pressure they exerted on Kingsbridge caused a handling error in the back line of which Albie Rickard pounced on and dotted down unopposed due to his lightning quick pace.

The final whistle blew, and Kingsbridge RFC emerged victorious with a final score of 30-5. Their performance showcased excellent teamwork, ball-handling skills, and an impressive understanding of the game.

Both teams displayed remarkable sportsmanship, camaraderie, and respect for each other throughout the match. The sunny weather added to the joy of the game, making it an unforgettable experience for players and spectators alike.

As always with the Spirit of Rugby at the forefront both teams shock hands and congratulated each other in the tunnel after literally battering each other for the last 40 minutes. Kingsbridge players extremely impressed with Freddie Shilton's audacious mullet so much so that they had to comment on it!

Congratulations to all the young athletes from both teams for their spirited efforts, and kudos to Kingsbridge RFC for their well-deserved win on this sunny day of rugby action.

Another tough one to take for the boys today, they are much better than the last few score lines have depicted and should endeavour to keep their chins held high, with persistence and good quality training it will click again for this group of young men, just like it did in the first game of the season. Like all those that watched England go out of the World Cup last night, sport can be cruel sometimes, but yet it also builds great character and resilience. As coaches we know these boys will bounce back!

Devonport Service RFC Under 12s WE GO AGAIN!
