Services U13s travelled to Twickenham on Friday 1st May, in preparation for their participation in the youth rugby festival on Saturday 2nd May sponsored by Babcock, involving teams representing the Army Cadets, who were represented by Army 1,and Army 2, United Services Portsmouth RFC, and Devonport Services.

What was a very well organised festival saw all teams compete against one another in the morning, with the two top teams progressing to the final, which was played at half time during the main match between the Army and Royal Navy.

Services were unbeaten during the preliminary rounds by beating both of the Army squads and USPRFC, and met Army 1 in the final.

Services began the final with a bang by scoring an early try before Army 1 had time to take in the surroundings of playing in front of such a large crowd, and the final score was DSRFC 20 Army 0.
All of the Services squad were able to get some game time during the final, meaning that they all had the opportunity to play on the hallowed turf, something that will live long in everyone's memories.

All of the squads who played in the final were presented with Babcock Army v Navy coins by England World Cup winner and British and Irish Lions player, Jason Robinson, which was a great honour.

On Sunday 3rd May, Services were kindly hosted by Chiswick RFC, and it was a very tired squad that took to the field. Services found themselves 20-5 down after 15 minutes, but after half time, Services woke up, and the final score ended at Chiswick RFC 30 DSRFC 35.

DSRFC U13s finished the 2025/2026 season unbeaten in the 13-a-side game, the same as in season 2024/2025 and this season have seen them beat squads from Devon, Cornwall, Berkshire, Kent and Middlesex, and they have all been tremendous ambassadors for Devonport Services RFC ??
