Services U13s entertained their biggest local rivals, Ivybridge, in an exciting and full-blooded contest at The Rec on Sunday.

With both teams playing for local bragging rights, usually held by Ivybridge, this was a great contest from the first whistle until the last, and cheered on by a raucous crowd, Services came out on top with a 6 tries to 3 victory.

The first half was a tight and tense affair, it flowed end to end with some barnstorming runs from Services second row Ellis Briggs and a great length of the field try by fullback Harry Bedford-Smith. The 9/10 combination of Pennington and Flowers proved pivotal with some clever backs moves interspersed with bulldozing forward crash balls.
Bedford-Smith made tackle after tackle and the halftime score was 3-2 to Services.

Both teams fielded a more developmental side in the second half, but this didn't slow the contest down, and Services were able to capitalise on superior field position to end the game 6-3 winners.
Ollie Palmer in the centre had an outrageous tackle count, with Isaac Doidge and Logan Early causing problems with their powerful runs through the middle.

There were 25 standout performances from the Services boys, with weeks of preparation and some tough training sessions providing the togetherness and work ethic required to beat a very strong Ivybridge lineup.

Huge thanks to Youth Chairman Pat Mowatt, as well as the Senior section for allowing the boys a fantastic opportunity to run out of the tunnel and onto The Rec for the first time, it's sure to be one they remember for a long time to come.
