In the first fixture of the season Devonport Services travelled to Newton Abbot for a three fixture which also included Liskeard and Lizzie Crocker from Tavistock. The coaches consulted and mixed the girls up into two teams who played under the colours of Services and Liskeard. There were Newton Abbot girls also involved. As Liskeard has arrived with 7 players the remaining girls from Services and Newton Abbot were mixed together with some also playing for Liskeard to make up two teams of 10 with a floating substitute.
The end result was a cracking game of rugby on a rock hard surface. The two sides were evenly matched from the start and the game was end to end with three unconverted tries each in the first half. Bronwen Williams being on of the scorers. The second half was fairly even two apart from two breakaways from the scrum half of Liskeard and despite a score to Services from Cloé Waterfield, Liskeard ran out winners by seven tries to four. The crowd were thoroughly entertained and it was a good run out for the Services girls of Bronwen Williams, Lauren Jewell, Chloe Smith, Jessica Thomas, Jade Abbott, Tizzy Addams & Cloé Waterfield. The only negative point was the visit from of an ambulance for Bronwen Williams with a leg injury.
Both teams played with a smile on their face from the first to last whistle in a thoroughly entertaining game.
